CONMEBOL
World Cup '98
Qualification

UEFA | CONCACAF | CAF | AFC | OFC
Futbol Centre

The qualification from the CONMEBOL consisted of a round robin of all 9 South American nations needing qualification to France 98. Brasil, as winners of the last World Cup, USA 1994, qualified automatically. Four spots were available, and the table below illustrates how each team fared versus another in the qualification process.

It was a battle til the end for Chile, Peru, and Equador. Equador, although finishing with as many points as Uruguay, were in fourth place several times during the qualification process. They beat tough opponents; if they keep it up, they certainly can make it to one of the next World Cups, hopefully by the time they host it! Chile was not a surprise fourth place finisher but they did have to fight for it! Do well all in France 98!
